Looking to turn multi-artboard design files into a multi-variant experience in Creator Studio? We’ve got you covered! Continue reading below, otherwise to check out our Design Transform Overview, click here!
The high-level:
-
The process is very similar to that of transforming a single artboard file, click the “Transform Design File: menu in your Creator Studio account and upload your file!
-
On step 3, you will be able to re-assign artboards to specific variants as needed. You can see in the below example, the Mobile artboard (Page 2) is assigned to both my Mobile and Tablet variants. Additionally, the Desktop artboard (Page 1) is assigned to the Desktop variant
-
If you are aiming to create a multi-scene experience (as opposed to multi-variant), you can click on the cogwheel in Step 3, as shown below. This will allow you to transition from multi-variant to multi-scene. For more information on uploading a multi-scene experience, click here!

-
After that your extraction process is the same as it is for a single-variant file. You have the ability to validate each artboard and then move on to the Final Preview Step.
-
Any artboard for which no widget is converted will be left blank.
-
Best practices:
-
Make sure your breakpoints in Creator Studio are set-up to match the numbers of artboards you are importing from your file
-
For example, if you have 1 breakpoint, you need 2 versions of your design
-
-
More layers on a file also means heavier content. Try to keep your files relatively “light”, avoiding too many nested layers and focus on adding the interactivity in Creator Studio to the elements that really count. This will guarantee smoother transformation of your file into an online experience.
